Pumpkin spice and buckets of candy - what’s not to love about the Halloween season? It’s easy to want to go overboard decorating your home in October, but there's a fine line between tasteful and tacky when it comes to Halloween decor. You know what we’re talking about, right? A couple of decorative fall gourds or an oversized fake spider your children are begging you to hang up in the living room? Tough decision… To help you celebrate one of our favorite holidays, we’ve compiled a list of classy (and kid-approved) Halloween decor that won’t be a sore eye for house guests.
Pampas Grass
Pampas grass is an incredible addition to your home throughout all of autumn. Adorn the fireplace, entryway, living room, and/or kitchen with vases full of golden pampas grass for a subtle yet trendy decor piece. Pampas grass is fairly inexpensive and comes in an array of shapes and sizes, so you can choose the perfect ones for your space. Your home will have that pumpkin patch feeling in no time!
Oh My Gourds and Pumpkins
We know this is an obvious one, but we just had to include it! After all, pumpkins and gourds are part of the fundamentals of Halloween decor. You know the drill - line your doorsteps with them, add miniature ones to the coffee table and kitchen island, and sprinkle large and small ones throughout your house wherever you see fit. You can even hollow one out and use it as a vase! After all, you can’t have too many pumpkins in the fall!
Witchin' Candlestick Holders
We’re always a sucker for a good candle, and Halloween is the perfect time to light your home with festive, fall scented candles! However, you can go beyond just a good smelling candle and take your Halloween look up to the next level with fun skull, pumpkin, or other spooky candlestick holders. We really love this witchy, dripping wax candle holders from Etsy.
Table Settings
Spider web style placemats, Halloween embossed serving utensils, a cobweb style table runner, checkered napkins, and spooky napkin rings are all fantastic additions to the dining room table. This is one of the main places where you entertain guests, so take the extra step to jazz it up! We’ve got tons of cute Halloween table decor in the shop, so swing by soon to snatch it up!
Orange Lights
This is a vibrant and simple way to spruce up the Halloween decor in your house. Adorn the window sills or mantle for an eery, nightly glow, or stuff a small strand inside a large glass vase to display on a coffee table or ledge. Either way, orange string lights are a fast and tasteful way to add a little Halloween thrill to your home this season.
Spooky DIY Decor
Halloween decor and an easy, fun project to do with the kids? Talk about a win-win situation! These adorable Halloween mason jars can be filled with tea light candles or battery-powered string lights and adorned on your coffee table or mantle this season. See how simple it can be to create spooky and adorable themed jars here!
Flowers (Duh!)
Autumn is one of the best seasons to display a beautiful bouquet of flowers in the living room since it adds to the cozy and inviting vibe fall elicits. Plus, don’t forget to adorn the outside of your home with yellow mums and marigolds! You can take it a step further and place the outdoor flowers on top of hay bales and around a scarecrow for a classic Halloween tradition. It’s classic Halloween decor that you won’t have to rush to take down on November 1.
Figurines and Wreaths
Small, rustic figurines such as pumpkins, skulls, and miniature haunted houses rest beautifully on bedside tables and dressers. Plus, they add a little zest to nearly any room and spice up surrounding decor. Last but not least, don’t forget to add a subtle fall wreath to your door! It doesn’t necessarily have to be Halloween themed. Rather, it can be a general autumn wreath with miniature pumpkins or faux sunflowers and leaves on it so you can leave it up throughout the fall season.
